Prescribing the right drug for the right bug
can sometimes be difficult, especially when a patient
believes they need an antibiotic. It is important
to explain to the patient your reasoning behind
not prescribing an antibiotic and provide them with
materials that help them understand your clinical
decision.
Patient education materials have been created to
compliment the adult and pediatric compendia. These
materials include information on the following topics:
- Ear Infections in Children
- Runny Nose and Sinus Infections
- Sore Throat
- Bronchitis and other Cough Illnesses
Additional education resources include:
- Colds and Flu
- Antibiotic Do’s and Don’ts
- Why are Children More Vulnerable to Infectious
Disease?
- How to Prevent the Spread of Respiratory Illnesses
All of these materials are offered in both English
and Spanish and can easily be downloaded for your
use.You must have a PDF viewer on your computer
to download the Materials below. You can obtain
a free copy of this viewer at the Adobe
