Speaker's Bureau
The AWARE Speakers Bureau brings health care professionals and the community together to increase awareness of proper antibiotic use.
Health care professionals conduct community presentations in schools, at Parent Teacher Association meetings, childcare centers, businesses, churches,
non-profit organizations, and other community events. This is an opportunity to rally community members to become active in a solution to reduce and eliminate antibiotic resistance.
Goals of the Speaker's Bureau:
- Increase consumer's understanding about the harmful effects of inappropriate antibiotic use.
- Decrease the likelihood that health consumers will continue to expect antibiotics from healthcare professionals for viral illnesses.
- Increase the likelihood that health consumers will use antibiotics appropriately.
Requirements to be a Speaker:
- Must be a health care professional:
- Bilingual health care professionals greatly needed.
- Complete the CMA Foundation AWARE Speaker’s Bureau training.
Presentations:
- CMA Foundation will provide the presentation materials.
- CMA Foundation will assist with the coordination of presentations.

The CMA Foundation’s AWARE Project proudly provides small grants to California medical and pharmacy students in support of projects that promote the awareness of proper antibiotic use in the community.
